Global Day of Prayer

One thing I really enjoy about working at Wycliffe is learning about all the things going on around the world. On one hand it makes me sad that it is so easy to go through life disconnected from what God is doing around the world, and on the other hand it makes me incredibly excited to learn about and know about how God is moving. We're in a time of worldwide spiritual growth. Its incredible! This month we've been focusing on prayer for the Pacific Area of the world. Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Philippines, and the Pacific Islands. Its amazing to hear about believers gathering in distant places like Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and PNG. I sometimes watch the "tribal life" show on Travel Channel. As I watch that show, I think about the translation work that could also be going on there, and about what God wants to do with the people that live in these remote places. He's calling them, He's included them in His plan, its pretty awesome to think about!

A worldwide movement called Global Day of Prayer is coming up. To learn more about it, go to http://www.globaldayofprayer.com/, go to the "Countries" link, and click on one of the areas. Especially note Africa...its really incredible especially in light of what we see in the news about Africa. We often wonder what we can do to make a difference in injustice around the world. This is definitely one way we can cry out on behalf of the people of the world.

Also, if you have a little extra time, go to YouTube and search "Global Day of Prayer". I watched the video for GDOP 2006, which was really incredible, but there are many other videos from places around the world, focusing on how these different places in the world participate in this event.

Okay, long post, but this is on my heart today and I wanted to share it with you. I'd love to hear your thoughts. We all want to "do more." How is God asking you to move?
